Designer
Rodolfo Alcantara
A furniture and product designer, Rodolfo Alcantara works in Londrina, in northern Paraná, less than half an hour from the Arapongas furniture hub. His work is not tied to a single typology: in the same year he designed the Bela and Belinha small armchairs, the Estações bench and the Luna set — armchair and pouf — for Combinare, he designed a sofa, an armchair and a bed for the region’s industry.
It is a repertoire that spans upholstery, seating and bedroom furniture, and one that demands design discipline: the same language has to work across very different scales and functions without losing its identity.
In the pieces he signs here, this shows up as restraint. They are forms of modest scale, resolved in just a few lines, in which the lightness of the design weighs as much as comfort — the kind of piece that occupies a room without competing for its attention.
